Maryland law requires county and municipal planning commission/board and board of appeals members to complete an education course on the typical issues faced in performing their duties. Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) has developed a training course that satisfies this state requirement per Section 1-206 of the Land Use Article. Topics covered during this course include - Foundations of Planning, Comprehensive Planning, Growth Management Tools, Planning Law and Ethics, and the Roles and Responsibilities of Planning Commissioners and Boards of Zoning Appeals Members.

This session will provide an overview of recent overdose trends in Maryland and highlight Maryland’s strategic priorities for reducing overdose deaths. Attendees will also receive fundamental information about substance use disorders, substance use treatment and recovery, how to identify and respond to an overdose, and how to administer the overdose reversal medication, naloxone.
